Mint is from the fabulous Big-Wood's Cardigan Corgis in Finland.  Johanna Flinck works tirelessly to produce dogs that are more than show dogs, they are fit for function undergo extensive health testing and they love life to the fullest, they get to go to the beach where they run free, spend time in the agility arena and occasionally head off to the show ring where they consistently do well.

We chose Mint to widen our gene pool as we feel very strongly that being part of a Vulnerable breed, that we as breeders need to ensure that we dont breed too closely, too often, as this can be detrimental for the future.  As breeders who hip score we needed to find another breeder who also had the same beliefs and Johanna is a strong advocate of health testing.  This made her a local place to go to for our "Mint".  We were lucky in being able to have one of Femma's pups, and having seen the photos just after they were born - Jo had jokingly said "if I can have one it would be that one!"   Little did we know then, that "that one" was Mint and she would be coming to England.  It has been a long wait, as the DEFRA rules in 2011 meant Rabies vaccination, titre test and a 6 month wait.  Throughout our wait Johanna has kept us up to date with her progress with a series of photos - these can be seen here.

In October Johanna kindly showed Mint at the Finnish Corgi Speciality and she was awarded 4th in a class of eight.  A couple of months later, the weekend before putting Mint on her flight to England, Johanna drove the 8hrs + necessary to get to Helsinki, there she showed Mint in both the Helsinki Winner 2011 and Finnish Winner 2011 shows.  On the first day Mint was awarded a VG and a 3rd and on the second day, much to our delight she was awarded EXC1, CCQ and Junior Winner 2011 which meant that she can now go to Crufts in 2012.

Much more important to us, is the way that Mint is already settling in and joining in with playtime with the others.  On her first day she did a trip to school to meet Owen and there she showed how well balanced and behaved she is.

Our thanks go to Johanna for allowing us to have this beautiful girl.

Mint has settled in well with us, and has been one of pack since her first day here.  She spends much of time pulling Fennel round by her tail, and loves to go and "talk" to our chickens.
